Abstract

The research study the waste management practices in Oman and study the feasibility of waste exchange within industries in Rusayl Industrial Estate, Muscat, Oman. The objectives of the research are to develop a waste management model with respect to industrial symbiosis process. Industrial symbiosis philosophy support the principle of sustainability since it helps in the conservation of the resources and reducing the environmental pollution besides increasing the economic benefits. The methodology of the research consists of literature review, data collection, identifying potential symbiosis and developing model to illustrate the process of waste exchange. The potential symbiosis will be identified. Identifying potential symbiosis is sometime obvious when the symbiosis is identical, but it is difficult in case of functional symbiosis. Then, economic analysis will be developed to measure the feasibility of each symbiosis process.
