Flow of Two Phase Simulated Fuel-PEG200 in Small Channels

Abstract

The flow patterns and pressure drop of two phase flow in small channel were studied using simulated fuel and PEG200 with different volume ratios and mixture velocities. The experiments were carried out in a glass channel of 1.2 mm internal diameter. The mixture velocity was varied from 0.033 to 0.163 m/s for different PEG200 fractions. The main observed flow patterns were annular, plug and dispersed flow. Annular flow was found in various forms. These are throat, quasi, wavy and wavy with drops. The pressure drop was found to increase as the PEG200 velocity increased and for a specific velocity of PEG200, it was found to be almost constant in most cases and any change was attributed to the change in the flow pattern.text
